In innovation, as in many aspects of life, timing is everything. Successful innovators are aware of the world around them and the needs of others. They recognize what needs to be improved and look for ways to make product or processes better.

A great idea may be premature or late for the market. Take some time to look at your innovation in the larger context. Is there something that your innovation needs to make it better or more marketable. For example the light bulb was great, but the universal screw-in bulb was easy for the average person to use and helped to improve the innovation.
